“I wanted to connect with other people who would really understand what I was going through, and I’ve found that.

Even though each of our stories are different, the baseline experience of us being donor-conceived ties us together.

A Message from our Founder:

Every year, thousands of people are born through egg, sperm and embryo donation. For decades, anonymous gamete donation was the norm in the US. Doctors never intended to share donors’ identities, and parents were usually told to keep it a secret. This practice left countless donor-conceived people (DCP) without access to important information about their genetic identity and inherited health risks.

Donor-conceived people have been made to wonder.

In 2022, Donor Conceived Community founded Made to Wonder: A Race to End Anonymous Donation so that people could connect, share stories, and build solidarity. Much work is needed to promote the health, safety, and wellbeing of DCP, recipient parents, and donors. This year, Made to Wonder is calling to establish a minimum US standard where all future DCP can obtain the donor’s identifying information after they reach the age 18.

On October 19th, 2024, donor-conceived children and adults, parents, donors, families, professionals, and allies will gather in Denver, Colorado* and meet-ups across the US for our 3rd annual event.

We would like to invite you to partner with us as an event sponsor. Sponsorship is an opportunity to demonstrate your commitment to the best interests of DCP and their families, and help sustain our mission to provide support, education, and resources to DCP, donors, parents, and professionals.

Since our founding in 2021, Donor Conceived Community has:

Please reach out to ciel@dccsupport.org with any questions about sponsorship or Made to Wonder. Thank you, and we look forward to hearing from you.

*Reproductive health professionals from around the US and world will gather at the American Scientific Reproductive Medicine Scientific (ASRM) Congress & Expo on October 19-23, 2024, in Denver, CO. The conference attracts more than 8,000 physicians and professionals to hear presentations from academicians, clinicians, and scientific investigators in the field of human reproduction. In addition, Colorado recently passed the Donor-conceived Persons and Families of Donor-conceived Persons Protection Act (DCPPA), which goes into effect in 2025. This legislation creates binding requirements for gamete banks, gamete agencies, and fertility clinics that promote the health, safety, and wellbeing of donor-conceived people, recipient parents, and donors. Under this law, at the time of donation, the donor consents to have their identifying information disclosed to any person born from the donation 18 years or older, upon the request of the donor conceived person.
